Challenge

Barclays Business Banking charged Brands2life with raising awareness of the impact of cybercrime to UK SMEs. Barclays needed a campaign that would highlight the scale of the problem, encouraging businesses to take defensive measures to protect themselves from fraudsters. The campaign also needed to showcase the efforts that Barclays Business Banking was taking to help its customers in the fight against cybercrime, through its ongoing DigiSafe campaign.

Approach

To help Barclays tackle this issue, we teamed up with top defender and business owner Sol Campbell, to host a ‘Sol Traders’ workshop for Barclays Business Banking customers and media. Alongside Barclays cybercrime expert Joe Cooksey, Sol talked about his own experience of fraud, and his top tips to show fraudsters the red card. Media were offered interviews, and extra news value was achieved through commissioning research showing the scale of cybercrime to UK SMEs. Images of the event and video footage was captured and packaged up on the day, and sold into media alongside the research.

Impact

The campaign generated 59 pieces of coverage in total, with a total reach of 332m. 30+ businesses attended the event to learn more about fraud prevention.
