No place for clichés at the Social Buzz Awards for LinkedIn’s Buzzwords

London, 30 November 2017 – We are excited to announce that our ‘You’re Better than Buzzwords’ campaign created with LinkedIn, has won in the ‘Best Professional Sector Social Media Strategy/Campaign’ category at the Drum Social Buzz Awards. The awards celebrate standout work in social media communications and recognise those that harness social platforms to communicate in unique and innovative ways.

LinkedIn annually releases a list of the most overused “buzzwords” found on LinkedIn profiles to help members understand how to stand out from the crowd, and encourage them to banish them from their profile. Now in its sixth year our campaign was brought to life with a little help from a few of history’s heroes, such as William Shakespeare.  We used some of the most commonly found buzzwords used on LinkedIn to show how even the great bard himself sounded mediocre by describing him as “A creative forward-thinker with excellent communication skills”. The campaign used social media to educate, drive and track profile edits resulting in over 2,400 mentions on Twitter and more than 460 pieces of coverage, a 72% increase from 2016.
