Dell EMC: Government digital service

CHALLENGE

Dell EMC tasked us with creating an innovative and integrated public sector focussed campaign that would position it as a thought leader in digital government transformation, and provide a differentiated narrative for Dell EMC to own.

APPROACH

We crafted a research-led, integrated campaign identifying a consumer and business ‘wish list’ for improved online government services. Using the research results, we developed a detailed report offering recommendations to government officials on how to manage their varying digital priorities, and a visual summary of the findings formed the basis of an infographic. All the content sat on a dedicated microsite hosting additional blog and thought leadership content developed to support social media, PR, sales and marketing activity.

We launched the findings of the report at a roundtable of experts from Go-ON UK, Enterprise Nation, Policy Exchange, Dell EMC and ex-GDS Director, Mike Beaven and attended by senior government officials, influencers and media.

IMPACT

The impact was widespread coverage, including a stand-out piece in the Daily Telegraph, where Dell EMC was quoted alongside Matt Hancock MP, and were picked up by HM Treasury’s Spending Review team plus MPs from the main parties in the House of Commons and House of Lords. Live tweeting from the event and shared content on social media channels included 172 mentions, 108 retweets and estimated reach of 401,179.

Dell EMC now has a relationship with the heart of government, with stakeholders proactively approaching Dell EMC and the public sector team being invited to directly advise government on their IT spending plans.

The campaign has since been awarded ‘Best STEM Campaign’ at this year’s CIPR Excellence Awards.
