Ascot Racecourse: When Daffy Met Daphne

CHALLENGE

In the lead up to the festive season, Ascot Racecourse challenged us to raise awareness of its annual Christmas Racing Weekend. Ascot also wanted to build on the success of last year’s Christmas campaign, video content featuring its Shetland pony Daffy. This year we came up with a fresh storyline to ensure our content was just as shareable.

APPROACH

Working with Ascot’s much-beloved and super cute Shetland pony, Daffy, we developed a storyboard which saw him find love at Christmas with fellow pony, Daphne. We captured their first meeting on film, before panning out to them wearing matching Christmas jumpers in their new home, to seed to media and feature on Ascot’s owned social media channels.

IMPACT

The video was hugely successful, with a total reach of over 18m. The video was featured on ITV London News and Channel 5 News Facebook pages, notching up over 200k views combined. Both channels included a branded Ascot mention.

We secured further coverage with the Evening Standard online and Horse & Hound, among others.

The video also had nearly 10k views on Ascot’s official YouTube channel, making it some of the most popular content for 2016.
